After Raising $1.6M, SimpleReach Launches To Become The PageRank Of Social

Pivoting is a part of life for startups. But, generally speaking, most entrepreneurs aren’t going to go out of their way to pivot right when their business starts taking off. But that’s what SimpleReach did. The startup’s first product, The Slide, is a simple widget that lets publishers recommend similar content at the bottom of articles. In just a few months, it was adopted by thousands of publishers, like Freakonomics.com, sparknotes.com, disinfo.com, The Washington Times, and SF Gate — to name a few.

Facebook seems to have realized it needed to highlight the feature, otherwise when people want to smile and laugh with friends face to f[...]

Can these four Korean startups make a splash internationally?

Posted by VentureBeat
South Korea is in the midst of revitalizing its startup community. It is moving away from a stigma of failureand encouraging more youngsters to forgo the traditional notion of school in exchange for entrepreneurship. Indeed, many in Korea believe the only path is to finish your degree and then work for one of the country’s powerhouses: Samsung, LG, or Hyundai.
But those who attended the beLAUNCH conference in Seoul this week see it differently. Five prizes, including a free ride to the DEMO conference, were awarded to promising startups Thursday, with that spirit of progressing farther than a predictable job at Samsung or LG. Here are the winners:
KnowRe is an education technology sta[...]
