The spoils of failure: Former RIM co-CEOs net $12M after stepping down

While RIM can’t seem to do anything right as of late, the company has apparently�mastered the art of the exit payout.
Just ask former RIM co-CEOs Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie, who are set to receive a combined payout of $12 million for agreeing to step down, The Globe and Mail reports.
The lion’s share of that cash goes to Balsillie, who nets $7.9 million in so-called “entitlements”. Lazaridis, who still serves on the RIM board as vice-chairman, gets $3.9 million, not to mention the�continued�use of a company car and private driver.

Oracle: Java 7 Auto-update Could Ding E-Business Suite Installs

Oracle has issued an "urgent bulletin" asking desktop administrators to immediately turn off the Java Runtime Environment auto-update option "for all Windows end-user desktops connecting to Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i, 12.0, and 12.1" due to a critical incompatibility.
The auto-update process to JRE 7 will happen as soon as July 3, but right now, Oracle's Forms development toolkit isn't compatible with Java 7, Oracle said in an official blog post. In addition, it said, the E-Business Suite itself has not been certified for Java 7.
Therefore, "Oracle E-Business Suite functionality based on Forms -- e.g. Financials -- will stop working if you upgrade to JRE 7," the post states.

Apple’s iAd Diaspora: Former Senior Mgr Mike Owen Now CRO At AdColony

Another former executive from Apple’s iAd business has made a move to another mobile ad venture: Mike Owen, who had been a senior manager overseeing iAd’s New York office, is joining mobile video ad network�AdColony as its chief revenue officer. The news comes amid two other executive appointments for AdColony �– Ty Heath as CTO, and Abe Pralle as VP of technology, both joining from gaming company�Plasmaworks.
The most high profile departures at iAd have been ex-head Andy Miller, who left last year to join Highland Capital; and Lars Albright, who helped had helped found Quattro Wireless and then establish iAd after Apple bought Quattro.

AOL shuttering resume site Emurse on July 15

Emurse, a company in the increasingly hot recruiting and job search industry, is being shuttered by AOL. AOL bought the online resume site in mid 2009, but has done effectively nothing with the service, and now as part of the company’s increasing attempts to narrowly focus where it can add value, is shutting it down.
Emurse allowed users to post resumes online in a variety of different formats, and then track who viewed them. Today, the site displays this message at the top:
