Layar Launches Stiktu, An AR App To Graffiti The Real World

Posted by TechCrunch
Layar, the startup which is one of the few to really power ahead with Augmented Reality applications, recently revealed it’s well-thought out business model after a long period of scaling the app’s usage. Their Creator tool allows offline print publishers to upload advertising imagery so that any Layar user can pass their smartphone over the ad content and see an augmented reality enhanced advert. So, goodbye QR codes, ugly visual signals or watermarks or the requirement to log a location. The publishers pay, and Layar is in the middle of the transaction. It just works. Google’s Project Glass is some way away, so Layar is in a sweet spot for this kind of application. I think it w[...]

Amazon finally gives the iPhone a Cloud Player music app

Posted by VentureBeat
It’s no secret that Amazon’s business strategy involves growing its digital media sales, which it has done by undercutting MP3 music download prices on iTunes. But Amazon’s streaming music strategy, kicked off by its Cloud Player release last year, has left iPhone users out in the cold until now.
Today the company released a version of its Cloud Player for the iPhone and iPod Touch, which will allow Amazon customers to stream or download music stored in their Cloud Drive. How to enable USB mass storage on Samsung Galaxy S3?

Posted by Jayceooi
I love exFAT supported external micro SD card on Samsung Galaxy S III. I can enjoy movie video that more than 4GB file size finally. However, Samsung Galaxy S3 does not support USB mass storage mode natively. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich seems to disable USB mass storage feature. Latest Samsung Galaxy S2 ICS firmware does not have this feature too. But worry no more, there is an application called SGS3 Easy UMS can help to enable USB mass storage on Samsung Galaxy S3. It will make external micro SD card on Samsung Galaxy S3 available as USB mass storage device. It supports exFAT for the moment (tried FAT32 but not working). Come on, try it out. Don’t stick on Media device (MTP) and C[...]

US Pushes Forward on Public-safety LTE Network

Posted by PCWorld
The body defining standards for a mobile LTE network serving police, fire departments and other public safety agencies across the U.S. has finished testing radio-access gear and will start interoperability testing of packet-core equipment on July 9.
The Public Safety Communications Research Program (PSCR) is on an accelerated schedule to set down rules for the network following the Feb. 22 approval of a mechanism to fund it. The funding plan, which was attached to a middle-class tax cut bill, calls for auctions of other spectrum to cover most of the estimated US$7 billion cost of the network.
The U.S. has long sought a unified nationwide network so federal, state and local public-safety agen[...]
